Lobbyist's Phone Contains $5M Deal Note for $LIBRA Support

A judicial investigation revealed a $5 million deal note in lobbyist Mauricio Novelli's phone, linked to President Javier Milei's support for the crypto asset $LIBRA. The document details payment terms and mentions in-person meetings at the Casa Rosada.

The lobbyist Mauricio Novelli's cell phone contains an annotation about a alleged $5 million deal linked to President Javier Milei's support for the crypto asset $LIBRA, according to copies of the document circulated in the judicial case.

This "memo", which experts from the Public Prosecutor's Office recovered after an attempt to delete it, details three payments in tokens or cash: an advance, another linked to a presidential tweet, and a final tranche for the signing of a blockchain and artificial intelligence advisory contract with Milei.

The text would have been written between late October and November 2024, before the trip to Buenos Aires of American Mark Hayden Davis, and mentions as consideration the President's public announcement on social networks and an in-person agreement at the Casa Rosada.

According to the expert reports, they also detected more than twenty telephone communications and messages between Novelli and Karina Milei, as well as at least 14 calls with presidential advisor Santiago Caputo and contacts with economist Demian Reidel, regarding the launch and fall of $LIBRA, as learned by the Argentine News Agency.

The reconstructed sequence shows that on February 14, 2025, the day of the launch, Novelli sought to communicate with Karina and then with Milei from Dallas, managed to speak with the President minutes before the tweet, and almost simultaneously, the VivaLaLibertadProject website was activated to channel potential investments.

At 19:01 that day, Milei posted on X a message of support for $LIBRA that included the necessary contract to invest, in the form of a 44-character alphanumeric code that was not publicly available until then, according to the records incorporated into the file.
